Sierra Club Wyoming Chapter, partnering with Braided River is working to engage concerned citizens to help preserve undeveloped sagebrush landscapes and the wildlife that depends on them. We invite you to join us to visit some of these special places this summer, to learn more about the incredible wildlife and other natural values they support, and how you can get involved to help protect them for future generations.
Join us on a hike into the Sweetwater Canyon Wilderness Study Area, about 15 miles southeast of South Pass City in Fremont County. We'll visit this outstanding remote area to explore the Sweetwater River at the bottom of a 500-foot-deep gorge. Our hike will focus on the area’s wilderness character, history, sage grouse habitat above the rim of the canyon, other birds and wildlife, and may include sampling one of the Sweetwater River's inviting swimming holes.
